The (unofficial) Tour de Fat

just call me enduro bro

I like having a plan and executing said plan.
Todays plan went like this.
⬆UP Rumbley
⬇Down Tally Ho
⬆UP Haley Toe
⬇Down Chimney Drop
⬆UP Rumbley
⬇Down A Full Burger
⬆UP Haley Toe
⬇Down Orange Crush
I like when a plan comes together and made me satisfied at the end of the game. The names of these trails may not be what strava or TF says they are, but to me they are the right names 🙂

Speaking of Orange Crush, what a great way to finish off on this classic chunk DH. Its worth the extra climb to smash this line. Just old school junk right down a steep decent. Skipped the climb over and just pedal the road over to the van.

As I said before this is why long travel bikes can work if you live where you can pull off rides like this. Todays long travel bikes are so efficient as in they can actually be pedal up a hill compared to just a few years ago. I am thrilled with this purchased and already planning where to find more like this and Glenn Park. Roanoke I think will be on a late summer list. I also have friends in the Ashville area so maybe a double dip of both or seperate.

Flash before my eyes
Now it's time to die
Burning in my brain
I can feel the flames✌

Roanoke huh?

I do want to get up there and do one of these sets with you. Not at Dawn O'Clock though. I need my Ugly Sleep.

I don't recall hearing the trail name Orange Crush before, but that is certainly fitting. I haven't been on that in years, since when I used to park and ride from the bottom of Stephen's Park Rd, and I would enter SSP by going down the over-grown paved road that meets Orange and continues down to the Ranger Station.

I don't venture that far usually, as for some reason, I do not like seeing @walter's bike leaning against a tree along White.

Orange Crush i have used before and it is exactly that. I need to hike that with the lady and toss out the loose stuff. Its definitely one run that you have to be super focused on yet let it all hang out. It is one of the few trails in the park that does get its share of hikers so do the obvious. Today i didn't have to because that part of the park has been closed due to erratication of the emerald ash borer going on.

So no ride today or in fact the next few days as i am working nights out in Long Island at North Shore Hospital. Seems they like me out there as i get keep getting these jobs. As much of a pain in the ass to travel to makes up for the travel home. I would probably visit Long Island more if it was like my commute home. Yesterdays ride was probably not the smartest thing to do before going into this job. I was climbing all over pipes and trying squeeze my ass through to build and sheetrock a fire box soffit. Had kid Jason with me for moral support, ok he held a few things ? i walked away from this one around 2am broken. My back was just Jack. Still have a twinge this morning and hopefully the Aleves will kick in. So I am just going to chill until I have to head in again later this afternoon.
