WTB Good Starter bike

I'm looking for a good starter bike for my brother
somewheres around the 21" range with disc brakes.. Few hundred is what he's looking, to spend.. Realistically probably not going to happen but I figured I'd post it anyways..

I have a 19.5" 2010 Trek 4500 i'd be willing to sell. It's the special edition matte black one. It has less than 500 miles and in very good condition.
