Tip for cleaning white bar tape

After some research on the internet I've seen quite a few recommendations for cleaning bar tape, toothpaste, wd40, specialized cleaners, pledge, simple green I could go on. Most people try them and never really get the tape actually clean, well atleast not clean in my opinion.

Today I used automotive grade wax and grease remover used for prepping body work for primer and paint. And Holy cow the results were great. I only spent 5 mins on the bar and got them 90% clean. If I took my time with a tooth brush I could get them 100%. You can get this type of solvent at any automotive store. The brand I'm using is a wholesale brand so you won't find it in stores. Just lightly wet a cloth and wipe until clean.

That acrysol is mostly naphtha, with added xylene and toluene. I wouldn't use it without lots of ventilation.

Just tried cleaning mine - what I thought was dirt/grime was the white pigment worn off the perforated tape. Gonna have to replace

Wrap black tape over the white tape. Boom!
Yes but white tape is atleast eleventy times more baller than black.

This stuff is the least potent solution in the garage. I was going to go strait to the chlorinated brake clean but I figured it was best to go with the most logical use of force.

this is good, i have 1/2 gallon of prep-sol in the garage.

o wait, i ditched the white tape.....
