Things that make you frown :(

Jack Bag, the maintenance monkey with the condo assoc. across the way, woke me up yesterday running a fuckin bobcat in my back 40. This, a week after he asked me to call the township to clear the drainage easement between the properties, and me telling him “No I like it overgrown ‘cause it keeps the sell entitled Karens from your complex off my property.” Well now it’s flattened, and the erosion is 10 x as bad as it woulda been. WTF about stay off my property don’t you understand?

Still undecided how to proceed. Some sort of a formal complaint may be in order.

I need to speak with the manager.

Maybe its just the optimist in me.... looks like a fine “fire-break“....... you know, should it become necessary.

This happened to me the other day - how about the people with bike racks who toot their horn several times right before they pass you. I know they think they are being helpful but it always makes me jump out of my skin. I know you are there, no need to honk!

I usually just buy as needed. This is the first situation I’ve needed it unexpectedly...never had rim tape just suddenly fail but I guess that’s the heat. The previous tape wasn’t Stan’s either so there’s that. I ended up having a roll of gorilla in the garage so that worked...never used it before so we’ll see how it holds up. So far good.
 
Yesterday I saw an example of someone who I believe may have been the victim of Covid bike pricing & a bad deal. Of course this could be all one-sided but I felt bad for the buyer. First the seller claimed the bike was a 2014/27.5 but when the buyer showed up it turned out to be a 2012/26er. When he came by I noticed the drivetrain was worn out (even the RDR pulley's), the derailleur hanger bent, tires needed sealant and the XT M786 RDR clutch was completely non-functional. He also paid way more than BBB recommended and now he needs to put more money into it.

He had reached out to me on Pinkbike since I had some tires for sale so I agreed to put them on and I gave him some Stans. I got the bike shifting so that he could ride it but I did not have the time to do it 100% right (work sometimes gets in the way...). I'm going to try and help him get the bike in shape over the next few days so that he can enjoy it more.
I kept this generic just in case someone recognizes any part and I don't know anything at all about the seller however the bike was fairly high-end bike in 2012 so they may know of this site. I will tell you this made me frown a bit.
 
Well last night at 1:30am I heard a loud tree branch snap, so I went outside to investigate to make sure my cars were ok and I found this two little birds on the ground very close to the massive branch and looked injured, they let me pick them up and I placed them on this towels and left them some little pieces of bread, I checked on them at 4am and they were still on the towel looks like they were sleeping, I had to make sure they were still alive. this morning they were gone, so I hope they are ok, looks like they ate some bread.IMG_20200731_013446822.jpg

Well yesterday I was getting on 287 from Metuchen and this jackass with a black Mazda CX-5 flyes behind me and starts to tailgate me before merging on to the highway and as merging he floors it gets over the solid lane cutting off an incoming car and gets on my left, I was running out of merging lane and I had an 18wheeler in front of me, I see him just staring at my bike which is on the roof for a few sec, then he finally decided to pass me and not staying next to me, he had an empty bike rack on the back. What an asshole, stupid wreckles people like this makes me frown.

I’m sorry but it was such a sweet bike!!!

JK that def sucks but is also a normal occurrence in NJ the simple act of daily driving here is a daily frown. I miss the early lockdown days of no cars

Well this guy definitely got next to me just to look at the bike, but he could've done it on a much safer and nicer way. Yes the first days of lockdown were the best, pretty much no traffic at all.
 
background: we have a 4lb 17yr old Chihuahua; went to rescues looking for a buddy for her, came home with a 65lb hound. Then 2 years ago she has seizures; being already 15 the vet says "prepare the kids". which turned into we adopt some small mixed stray. Then the old lady decided to keep living so now we have 3 dogs.

the new idiot is still in stray mode after 2 years so eats everything it sees, including paper, vegetables, lint, etc. So periodically gets sick and throws up and/or can't eat for a few days. Then we have to go to the vet, which is (literally quoting our vet) is a "shit show". we have to muzzle him in the car before we go in. it takes 3 people to give this 11lb idiot his shots.

the hound has some tumor (prognosis very good) so is on pre-op meds. apparently while I was out biking, the little idiot knocks two pills out of my son's hand and swallows them. I come home from a hot day of biking yesterday, then chillax with a glass of wine and some youtube, pass out into blissful oblivion. get woken up at 2am, the idiot threw up all over my kids bed. wife grumbles something that I translate as "your turn". so off to emergency vet we go. the little idiot loses his shit in the parking lot when we hand over the leash so they have to carry him in wrapped in blanket like a cat. turns out he swallowed enough to get sick but not do damage so he lives. they bring him back with another muzzle on top of ours, apparently he was trying to bite them thru the first one.

good news is it's very easy to give him pills. he'll swallow them out of pure greed. one time the vet said the pills taste bad so cover it in something. it must have tasted horrible because he spit it out 5 times and swallowed it on the 6th 🙄

I have 3 refrigerators and lots of money in food in them which means in about 2-3 hours I will need to drag the generator out of the shed and bring it to the side of the house and run the cords to plug fridges in. (No I don’t have a transfer switch set up. Dammit. )

the power will probably come back on the minute I get everything running.

oh and my phone has 20% battery left. And I got a ton of shit to do for work tmw .

my bike headlight makes excellent flashlight tho. 700 lumens is bright inside.

it’s gonna be a long night.
