We've had threads like this through the years and been impressed with some of your setups. But unfortunately my work area in the basement hasn't been inspiring and is usually in shambles. Never built the work bench which seems necessary, right now it's just plywood sitting on some cabinets with an unused peg board.
Here's what it usually looks like:

And a day or two after organizing and tossing. Made piles to donate and sell but actually following through is another story.

Going to get a few more of these bins from Costco as they've been spot on for larger parts. What's everyone been doing for small pieces like spacers and bolts? Sorting through them will take a good week.

For small parts, I like these Harbor Freight/Stanley organizers. There are two different styles with different bins for different sized options and lots of good examples of people online making storage racks, carts, benches, etc incorporating them:

Examples for storage.

I'll be building something similar in the next few weeks because things are getting out of hand (this is not how I have them stored, but the current setup has a lot of room for improvement).

Here's the old thread. My setup hasn't really changed, just the bikes/parts have.

EDIT: well, it seems a lot of the photos are gone from that thread, including mine, so here's mine:

Also doubling as Santa's workshop at the moment.

I like your upper level bike rack Matt....curious, how high is it? what are you using to hold the rear wheels? Now that im up to 11 bikes, I need to figure out more parking :)

Base for the rear tire is 55", but 50" might be a bit easier for people closer to 5" to access and still have plenty of clearance for large bikes on the first level.

Rear is held with basic bike holders, at the time they were available on Amazon as a package of 5 or 6 for ~$100. I recently found them on another site for a friend, I'll try to dig that up if you want.

Note the support on one side to allow bikes angled on both ends.

Edit: link for very similar/affordable bike holders. I also mounted them with screws so they don't slide or move when putting bikes on.

Oh man that's super clever. I wish I had any type of height in my shop. I can barely use a Velohinge because my bike's wheelbase is as high as my joists.

What hours are you open? Is Founders an acceptable form of payment?
