Let's talk x/c skis, because it's August

I stopped in Pelican today and talked with the salesman John and got some great info. At this point I'm thinking of a full metal edge ski that is wider to play off trail but still thin enough to take to a groomed area like High Point for some fun time as well. With that through the setup below seems to be what I'm looking at to break trail and explore and hoping to get to a groomed area to cruise around with the wife every now and then.

That is a nice set up and will work fine for off trail stuff with the occasional trip to groomed center. Hopefully we get snow this winter:)

Toward the end of last season I picked up a set of Rossignol EVO OT 65 and X5 boots.

The OT65 is the same sidecut as the BC 65, but a partial metal edge instead of full. We have groomed trails 20 minutes from our house, but I also want to take the skis to the woods, and these seem to fit the bill.

I only got out on them three times last winter, and I'm a total beginner, but I'll be happy to have them if we get enough snow this winter.

I have the Rossignol BC65 skis and they are great. You'll definitely be slow on them on groomed trails, but that doesn't matter if you're just looking for exercise. Being able to go off trail in the woods is where it's at anyway. The BC70 is basically the same thing just a tiny bit wider.

Sweet thanks for the info guys. And I'm assuming to get the best boots you can afford to make it a more comfortable experience? I don't wanna get cheap boots just to have them fall apart.
