I hesitated with the 500 when I lost my 705, but eventually got another 705. The mapping capability was the determining factor, by far. I just like to be able to map a route in advance and just follow it on the screen. Off-road it's even better, but you have to find someone else's rides and upload them. Usually not hard. Of course if you've already ridden somewhere you can see your tracks, which can be nice when you don't want to ride around in circles.
HR makes calorie counts more accurate, and I think it uses your weight also.
