If you wanna see what a belt failure looks like up close, here ya go.

Is there any thought or reality on what causes such a failure? Is it something as simple as how hard you push it (ie gear ur in and torque)? I'm thinking of an MTB stage race I was in where I saw 3 different people blow up chains on shitty shifts under heavy load on hills they went in to poorly.

It’s just the age of the belt normally. This is on a Gen1 Vado so it’s old. I would do this as a regular maintenance every 2 or years depending on mileage, at least when they offer kits for more of the motors. It’s like a 30 minute job start/finish. Well, if you do as many e-bikes as I do it’s 30 minutes 😂

When my motor broke last month I would pedal it and it would make it's motor sound but not propel me forward. No error messages.
I guess this photo is what actually happened?
Fortunately it was under warranty so the entire motor was replaced.

Right now Brose won’t allow anyone to open a motor under 2 years old so they just replace them. Seems like a monster waste because it’s such an easy fix.
