Allamuchy Thursday Rides 2012

We had a pretty good turn out last year so I figured we would get it going again. Similar to last year, the rides range from intermediate to advanced, depending on the week and the particular trails we plan to ride. The areas we will include as part of this series are all of Allamuchy North (Waterloo, Cranberry Lake and tranquility farms), Allamuchy south (Deer Park) and Stephens State Park.
Please come prepared with all the usuals (spare tube, pump, master chainlink, helmet, water, etc.) I will usually carry a few extra maps with me in case we need to break up into groups for whatever reason, however it would be helpful if the rider could familiarize themselves by taking a look at the maps available on the JORBA site (they are amazing accurate) for these parks at the following links.

Here's a google map I created, to locate all of the meeting areas that we are likely to use. Click on the appropriate meeting spot on the left side and you will be able to find directions to the exact location.

Since we don't have that much sunlight just yet, I figured we could start with a Deer Park ride this Thursday 4/5/2012. Wheels down by 5:45pm. Depending on who shows up we will ride somewhere between 7-10 miles.

Lights?

Lights required? Or finish before dark? Given that the days are not that long yet, maybe aim for a 5:30 start?

I wish this was closer for me. Trying to drive out route 80 around 5 is crazy.

I'm in

Duh, would have helped if I'd read the whole post. I'm up for a lap of Deer Park, w/o lights. See ya Thursday.

Thanks for leading these, Peyman. I am going to see if I can make some of these.

Can't wait to get back out there and Hammer the Mooch.

Going on my first ride at Lewis Morris tonight since I tore my MCL in October. Gonna need a few weeks to get in shape before I can keep up with Peyman.

Have fun!

It was definitely on tonight and Tony is in great form!
Good to see you getting back out Greg!

How about a visit to Stephens state park this Thursday? This will be an intermediate ride and start from the Tilcon lake gate at 5:30 sharp. We will try to cover the trails around the lake, climb up to the compost heap, ride back down towards the train tracks, if there is time we will add the maze loop and then finish up with the trails on the side of Kinney road. Please refer to the first post in this thread for the location of our meeting spot.

Alright since we are lacking in participation this week, I am inclined to go ride somewhere else. Till next week!

Let's try again for a Stephens loop this week at the Tilcon lake entrance. Wheels down 5:30pm.

Cool. Last week's ride destroyed what was left of my old faithful giant VT3. Sliced tire, broken brake lever, rear shifter on top of a messed up crankset and leaking fork and bent rims finally forced me to pick up another bike. So I'll be there with my new anthem 29er x1.

Hi, I'm new to this forum. Is this evening's ride open to all? I.e. Stephen's Loop - Tilcon @ 5:30...
Thx, Mike

As long as you are comfortable on an above average pace intermediate ride you are welcome to join us!
