6 Mile Run Conditions

Yup, near hero dirt conditions. Tacky in most places, no dust. Will get better as it dries out more. Some puddles and soft spots only here and there.

Passed by a guy twice on a mint green epic. Nice bike. :)

Also crossed paths with a guy blasting techno from a bluetooth speaker. Heard him coming a long way. Cool speaker dude.

It’s wet. Moved some dirt / mud.

Hit it all this afternoon. I can say with complete confidence it ain't wet no more. Lots of leaves but the dirt underneath is nice and tacky. Even blue by the stream and steel bridge is nearly mud free.

Here's the bike after doing blue, red and orange.

Perfect conditions. Shocked I only saw 3 people and went from 27 to Canal and back. Must be lots of families out doing Halloween stuff.

I had the opposite experience with my son - I think we crossed everyone out there plus hikers. Beautiful day out and conditions are exactly what you say. Perfect.

A lot more to come/especially after the replacement knee Later this month… I’m sure I’ll be off my feet for sometime but when I come back I’ll have more stability and stamina for Trail work hopefully
Was just there today and, wow, a lot of dirt moved on Orange! Awesome!

Conditions should be good this week through Friday midday. After that we should see rain and then the beginning of the dreaded Freeze-Thaw Cycle.

I note this as the freeze-Thaw cycle comes as a surprise to riders every fall/winter.

This is a hiking video but it is super relevant to the conditions we experince at 6MR. :

Conditions were primo this morning before the rain. I finished up with only a drizzle for the last 10-15 minutes.
@jdog jas put in a metric fuck-ton of work, and was out again this morning.

There is a tree about neck height that should be removed just after that gully dipper thing. (About 10 minutes into the ride from Canal Lot.)

I’ve ridden by that tree countless times and keep forgetting my saw. I hope this weekend I can make it disappear.

I'm not going to say these trails are Closed yet, but you will have to be very selective to find good riding conditions here soon.

Google "freeze-thaw cycle" if you are not well versed in the phenomenon ..
sad to see another season end. rode the trails this past weekend and they were in the best shape i've seen them in many many years! thank you @jdog for all of your work here!

Haven't been out here all of '22 I think, so I am taking advantage of the primo conditions tomorrow so I can appreciate all the hard work that's been done this year.
