BTW, my background is automation, the real one. Since I moved to IT from automation sw design and support I feel like I retired early, it just pays better...

I worked a lot with Zymark robots early on for testing. We never made it efficient enough to replace humans back then. It was more about precision than machine learning 25 years ago.

I wish my company would pay me to go back to school, but they have no desire to have me learn and develop because they know I would leave since I am underpaid.

Most millennials won't take a job unless they offer an education reimbursement program.
In my current classes, 80% are generation M, used be a lot more 30 and 40 year olds. Now everyone knows an MBA or other graduate degree doesn't guarantee a promotion. I just go to school, cause I like learning, and I'm getting so bad at absorbing academic knowledge.
