Hey everyone,
I want to pass this information along because the thought of this happening in NJ is exciting. New York officially has a High School Mountain Biking League. NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association) is the organization responsible for successfully establishing mountain biking as an high school sport in States like California, Colorado, Texas, Washington, Minnesota, Utah, Tennessee, Arizona, and now New York.
How cool would it be for our kids to have this option when they get to High School? It can happen but it’s going to take the NJ mountain biking community to get behind and support the effort.
If anyone wants more information on how to support or get involved with spearheading the NJ league you can contact Jason Cairo, Executive Director for the NY League. He’s been through the process and can guide you.
The very first NY race is April 28th at Sprain Ridge in Yonkers. Jason tells me any high school kid can register to race regardless of what state they live in.
