Your suggestions for a light-weight tire (tubed) for northern NJ…

I just got my ‘06 specialized epic together and it rocks. Somewhere in the last few weeks I killed the freewheel on my old (very old) wheelset so I picked up a set of crossrides real cheap to use for now. Knowing that they are pinned I don’t think I want to attempt tubeless with them. But I think I would like to try a lighter tire. I’m currently using Nevegals DTC 2.1 folding. Maybe something that rolls faster (smaller knob)? I mostly ride Kittatiny, Mahlon, Lewis.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated along with widths and versions…

Oh and if it makes a difference I’m about 170 with gear and usually inflate to about 30 psi.

THANKS!

I say it all the time, but the crossmark exceptions have been my favorite tire in any condition I put them through, from 6" deep mud, to sand, to hardpack, rocks, roots, wet leaves. They are a good sized 2.1", and they weigh around 530g each, which is about as light as you can ask for in a tire with any kind of durability and volume. I have been using them tubeless and they hold air and seat extremely well.

Kenda Karmas are sweet. Not superlight, but not a pig either. Hooks up in all conditions. Don't worry so much about tire selection. Worry about how you can work what you've got. Once you find a tire you're comfortable with you won't want to change them out.

i'm a big fan of the maxxis ignitors. rode them everywhere up north, never an issue and pretty light.

I think the Ignitors on my post are sold but I still have a perfect pair of Crossmarks if you want.
