My 7yo daughter is interested in taking lessons. Maybe not a sure shot, but I’m guessing there might be someone on the board who’s been there done that. Not looking to break the bank but I do want to get a proper beginner instrument (offset g etc.) instead of the cheapest thing I can find.

I would go with Craigslist or Facebook MP. For sure you can get a nicer one than a beginner model from the music store. Did this for my daughter and sold it years later for about the same price.
