which way?

When riding up to the "tower" which way do you think is the better way?
Up the left (yellow) side, Middle, or right (red) side also which way down.
I have not gone up it yet so any advice would be helpful.

Thanks
Sven

i have always gone up yellow then down red- take yellow all the way to the top (bearing left at the "plateau" 1/2 way up), then crossing the fire road and following that down. coming down the steep, loose section after you cross the fire road, you'll make a right to stay on red. going straight puts you in a pit with lions. or something.

which way? UP!

I usually go from green to red, cross the road up at the tower (tower on the right) and go down yellow, going to the left and then I swing around and go up yellow (lakes on the left) and go up yellow and then left back on red and backtrack back down.

I just did this today at lunch and I love this section of the park.

Any chance that RiderX or anyother team bulldog riders could convince the rangers to get those two trees cut up? the one on yellow just up from the lake kills my momentum going up and the one on red up at the top connection took away a nice little jump when you are coming down red.

Looks like a great week for riding!!!

I agree with bonefish on this one...stay all the way left on yellow, go up past the needle, cross the fire road, and come down red. This way gives you a longer descent. Going down yellow (although steep) is a super quick and short descent.

Although...

for training purposes.....I could see the benefit in climbing up on red and possibly "looping" yellow like jpn said to maximize your climbing time, without loosing the longer "whoo-hoo" descent down red.......

hey..try both!

Thanks for the advice. I went out this morning to give it a shot. I decided to go up yellow and down red. Started up yellow and broke my chain. Went tumbling down the hill getting road (or is it woods) rash left leg and shoulder but the worst part was the end of my handle bar gouging into my stomach knocking the wind out of me.

Better luck next time

Sorry to hear about your bad luck! That yellow climb is a bit steep and a bit loose (in spots)...if you're gonna snap a chain at KVSP...that would be one of the areas it could happen...and the top of the white switchback climb on the main park side going N/E from the main parking lot...
