where can i watch planes?

idk if there are many planes flying right now, but Lincoln Park airport used to be good when i was growing up, they even did a 'young eagles' (i think is what they called it) program 2-3x a year where they had people who would volunteer to take you up for a ride, one year i even got to fly for a little bit. Pretty sure your son is too young for that much, but something to keep in mind.

Ikea parking lot in Elizabeth is the go-to spot, but the wind may suck (that was my experience last time a tried this, roughly this time of year).

We go to ikea for fun to walk around then eat lunch and watch airplanes!

I used to love getting stuck at a red light over there and watching the planes fly overhead... See all the landing gear and everything.

I am worried about security going to a closed Ikea to watch planes

May be the only place planes are taking off today. Blair’s town and lincoln park are probably better, but I don’t think they do a lot flying in shitty weather.

Both schedules are empty, this is now a recon thread for next Saturday. We're going to go figure something else out

Go to the 4H park in Branchburg... people are always flying RC planes there. Many vivid memories fishing the river and hearing planes crash or just stop mid fight. They also have the dog racing time trials there. Dogs following a flag on a wire never gets old.

unfortunately North Branch Park is part of the Somerset county system, so it is closed.

you'll get action at a small airport on a nice day - I'd recommend Blairstown for the same reasons Matt said.
Small, friendly, food. If it were normal times, I'm sure someone would let you son get up-close, or sit in one.

bring a cheat sheet, so you can tell the difference between a piper, cessna, mooney, beechcraft...

Parking lot 6 at newark airport....better yet, is the state police barracks right there.....not sure how that one would work out for you....My BIL is a trooper there and I still got reamed out for having no front plate....troopers :/
