If you have an iPhone. Or a BB with the proper OS. Or certain mobile phones.

Ahhhh...Wish I had a set up to do that. Pandora is the greatest service available to mankind..IMO. Without it, I don't know how i would get through the work day.:hmmm:

Agree. It's invaluable. As it turns out I don't have an iPhone, my BB OS is too old. And my cell phone isn't good enough for it. OTOH I drive my car 1 mile to the train station 2-3 days a week so it's not a big deal.

Hah! yeah, my commute is over an hour (Brick to Trenton)....I have already listened to everything on my ipod 100 times and the only thing on the radio I can handle is NPR nowadays.

You could go with slacker.com, which is like Pandora. They sell a portable player:
http://www.slacker.com/products/portables/

I'm considering it. I need to play with slacker.com more and check out the portable player (and associated costs if any) before I make that jump.

But this is a market that is WFO, I mean WIIIIIDE FO. And someone needs to jump in and fill the void that exists there.

89.5 fools!

You can get a clean reception up north

The other day I forgot my Ipod, so I turned up the radio and I thought my wife played a joke on me with the presets...it blows!!!! WTF Beyonce on 92.3, couldn't believe it.
But no biggie, since I don't listen to radio much, since I always have my Ipod & Cd's

now if I could play Pandora in my car :hmmm:

Being the poor Hick I am I really only listen to 2 radio stations around here one is 92.5 out of philly yah yah I know its a country station. :getsome: Also listen to 1090AM out of philly for the nerd inside of me. Other than that I listen to my CD's and portable audio. Just don't get good selection of good metal around here on the radio I seem to find.

Satellite killed the radio star.....

Since signing on for satellite radio a few years ago I can't even think about going back to "free radio". In 3 years there has never been a time that I couldn't find some thing that I want to hear within my 10 preset stations. Also take into account the fact that I can listen to the same station from NJ to any where in the US on long road trips while my kids are watching a video my wife and I are happily listening to our favorite music. I know "but you have to pay to listen" I would sooner give up cable TV than my Sirius radio. For the price of two tubes a month you can listen to what ever you want. And no I don't work for Sirius just my $.02

The radio industry is crazy. I knew a guy who dj'ed for a rock station in South Florida (Zeta 94). There was no warning to the impending doom. His boss was literally driving to work, tunes his car radio and there's latin music coming out of the speakers. No warning whatsoever. Whichever corporation it was changed everything overnight.

True dat. I was one of those "I'd never pay for music" until I heard it. Now I only hear radio when the kids have it on at home, Z-100 no less.

dont let this distract u from the real problem... the cable company. But back on topic, to play devils advocate, how do you think the lovers of smooth jazz felt when their format changed to rock/modern rock (refering 2 101.9 wrxp) Where is a mofo supposed to go for some Sade... up in here!

It's funny how so many people I know listens to satellite radio... and yet they had to merge in order not to go bankrupt... and the company is still on shakey financial ground... ...I got a taste of satellite radio in a rental car awhile back... didn't care for it at all... I kept scrolling through the stations and thinking of that Bruce Springsteen song... "57 channels and nothin' on..." I'm just glad I wasn't paying for it...

Most of the time, I listen to 89.1 - a classical station out of Mercer Co. Comm. Colllege. My home and work are just on the lower and upper ends of the broadcast range. And since I don't have TV at home, this is also what I listen to there.

If I travel Northeast of work (Somerset), I'll turn to 89.5... although I tend to tire quickly of Pantera wannabe bands these days... Pantera sucked when I first heard them 15 years ago... why the need to rehash them?

If going into Philly, it's usually 88.5... although even they can wear on my nerves... so I'll usually surf between 88.5, 93.3 (commercial rock) and 94.1 (commercial rock for 30-somethings, heavy on 80's hair-metal).

Occassionally, I just put in a... <gasp!> CD! (I have no i-pod or mp3 player).

I'm waiting for reliable and affordable internet radio... then I'll be able to listen to my classical station anywhere... and I'll be happy.

I have to say, I'm not that fond of satellite. Depending on your speaker setup, you can definately tell they are very low bitrates (128-192kbps) for most channels with only a few with better bitrates. For headphones this is okay (maybe) but for 'CD' quality going through a high-end system 320kbps is minimum.

Of course I can also walk into a house and tell if electronics are on because of the high-frequency signals they send out.

Do you lay down on the floor and curl up in a ball before it rains?

I always know when my kids have left the TV and DVD player on with nothing playing. The TV looks off but I can hear it. Really bugs me sometimes.

95.9 the RATT is good if you live in a half mile radius of the station. What the hell is their antenna power? College radio has bigger guns.

The RATT reminds of Family Guy. Your here with Dingo and the Baby!!!!!!
