So it had been probably more than a year since I have ridden Lewis Morris...maybe even 2 years? Its been a while. I finally went there last night for a ride. Holy crap, what an improvement! Just wanted to give the trail crew a shot out for some amazing work. Trails are actually really fun, never thought I would say that about lewis morris. Great work everyone!

When I finally get my bike sorted out I want to try this too been a year or so since I’ve ridden there myself. Hearing all the great things

Yup, big improvements and the new stuff is well built and appears to be holding up well so far. The park is only a five minute drive for me and I used to consider it fun only at race type speeds. Now it's just fun. Don't miss the loop accross the street and some of the improved stuff on the Patriot's Path headed towards the MTown direction.

As for routes, the upcoming 6/30 race loop has a lot of the highlights of the main park in a good direction. The only missing new trail is the flow trail that ends at the start/finish pavilion as that requires crossing a road.

We got some other stuff in the works too! White extension is going to be a blast.

I moved to morristown a few months ago and have been riding lewmo. I can definitely tell the difference between the new and the old. The new is nice, but why are the zero features, jumps, or any berms to allow you to keep speed in some of the very flat turns? There was one skinny from a fallen tree that is now cut up in the woods. I appreciate the work being done, but whoever has a say in what gets done here, can we get some berms or something to spice up this park? I know multi use, but plenty of other parks in this state have MTB specific features, while still keeping the horses and hikers happy. I visit other parks for these things, but when I can ride out my door to the trailhead I tend to come here the most and I think it would improve this park even more. Before you ask...yes I have been to a trail session, I dont want to rake leaves in the woods, I have enough of those at home. If I'm coming out, I want to build MTB trails.

I'll pass your feedback to the person who I work with to coordinate the trail sessions. I agree, the park could use some of the features you mentioned, i've asked, numbers times, but when one or two people show up to trail days, it's impossible to get anything done. DM me your phone number, ill text you when I go out do some work.

In the past, MCPC was not keen to install any technical trail features. In fact, even trees that fell across the trail and had been left for years were summarily removed one year because they were perceived as being “jumps”. A lot of that stemmed from a lawsuit when someone on an MTB broke their ankle at Lew Mo and MCPC had to spend a considerable amount in legal fees to defend itself. Thankfully the judge threw out the case in the end.

Much has changed now with the new trail director, who understands the needs of various user groups. Witness the amazing new trails at the Tourne that have plenty of tricky rock sections. Granted Lew Mo doesn’t have much if any of the rocky terrain that Tourne and Mahlon have, but some bermy stuff should be doable at some point.
