What have you done to your bike today?

Had to remove a quill stem with a frozen, stripped quill bolt. Got it done. Reinstallation may be tricky, however.

Al immediately creates aluminum oxide when expose to air. It is harder than the base metal. Doesn't change with water or dirt. No need to coat.

Not exactly. The surface is not uniformly exposed to the elements, so in time you’ll see spots and discoloration. I used a precut kit from invisaframe, the few parts that were not covered by the plastic film have taken a slight patina, while under the clear film it’s as good as new. Granted, the clever people at Knolly gave the frame a brush ‘natural’ look that would minimize the patina visual impact.

Thinking about it, salty water or acid rain would make a difference. Good call.

Busy times in the basement. Pinky had to go back to SS pre ride in the morning.

Got rained on so that's how I ended up back home to do more Sqweeb work. After work did a pre event tune up and wheel swap on the SL7. This bike always looks like hell for some reason.
