Weekly MTBNJ Highlights - July 15, 2024

I have not found anything better than Gabriel's Fountain in Bridgewater.

Yeah, they're pretty good. I like the seasonal stuff, and really any shop that makes something other than the standard 12 flavors is good to me. They will make a lavender ice cream once in a while that's the best. I love lavender in ice cream.

The 2 best shops I have found are in Texas and on the west coast. Both of them have weird flavors like olive oil & salt, or horse hoof, etc.

Ah bummer, I was in York with the family last year and we didn't try it.

While I'm not actively looking, I have not found anything better than Gabriel's Fountain in Bridgewater. We are likely headed to New Hope this weekend so I might convince everyone to walk across the bridge was try out Oh Wow Cow
I didn't know they had a store location in Lambertville, although it is a fair walk from the bridge.

IIRC, the actual creamery was located near Point Pleasant, but it no longer shows up on Google Maps. Either it moved or they asked for the location to be hidden after too many folks pulled in thinking they could get ice cream there....

I've also been to the location in Wrightstown numerous times. Often on the way home from Nox since the only practical way for me to get to Nox from my house is to essentially drive the entire length of Rt 413.

Fun fact: it takes me less time to get to Allaire from my house in PA than to get to Nox - which is in the same friggen county...

Honey lavender is a staple at the Lambertville spot. One of my favorites. They should have cream corn now if not soon.

Just happened to be pedaling by…honey lavender

Sundae School in Cape Cod. The is cream is great! And this place runs like a machine, even the parking lot

We walked anyway, lol my shoulders are screaming from having a 30lb 4yo on them for a decent chunk of the day's walking (that includes just bumming around New Hope before ice cream too).

It was good, I got cookie dough brownie and was satisfied. Two others got chocolate which was also good, and my older daughter got strawberry sorbet but I did not try it. However, I wouldn't say it's better than anything else around here. TBH I don't think it beats out Gabriel's Fountain, but maybe I'm biased and it's not fair to compare it after one try?

Who's qualified to proclaim a place the number one ice cream shop anyway?

Is this what an avg size toddler looks like? Your lucky man you. I'm afraid of what my daughters going to weigh at 4yo (she's 43lbs and not even 2.5 yet)

Either way you earned that ice cream

Lol keep up on your upper body strength! She'll be 4 on Halloween, but yeah 30lbs or so. And my 7yo is about 50 I think? But on the flip side, my BIL has one who just turned 2 and she's the same size as my almost 4yo.

For real on upper body strength (and its amazing how much movement increases how heavy they feel) its gotta be worse for my poor wife whos only 4'10". The variation in toddler sizes is just wild.
