Weekly MTBNJ Highlights - August 5, 2024

I would be remiss if I didn't kick this off with the observation that it's August. And wow, it's freaking hot.

Olympics

I can't say enough about how awesome the biking has been here. Walter started a thread about it. For me, I'll recap how the biking has been:
  1. Women's MTB - awesome
  2. Men's MTB - awesome
  3. Men's road - awesome
  4. Women's road - awesome
We have watched the primetime coverage at night and it's fine. But 90 swimming event and 200 gymnastics events later, and they start to resemble an H2H race with the number of medals they give out. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy it. But it's a lot.

Also, handball is stupid. I am open to whatever they want to put on. Horse Crip Walking, golf, pool, or whatever, is all fine. But I watched a few minutes of handball and it's just preposterous. Dodge Ball would make far more sense to me.

Work Trip

I went on a work trip last week and rode 3 different parks. Yudicky Farm in NH, Billerica in MA, and Rockland in CT. The links there are for my personal blog. I don't promote it that much because I am mostly writing it for myself. I know a few people follow it, though probably very few. Maybe just Steve & Joy, come to think of it.

To assure you all, it was as brutally hot in MA as it was here. I like riding different locations and parks but by the end of this trip I was decimated from the heat. I am home this week but I have trips to Columbus then State College planned for the next 2 weeks to move kids into college. I plan to build out more wiki content through all of this.

Blogs & Content

Things were a bit light this week.
  1. Jim did a hot thing
  2. JU ate a burrito
  3. I made my berm bigger
  4. KM had some sort of existential crisis with rain
  5. Yudicky Farm wiki
  6. Billerica wiki
Feels a little like the mid-summer slog has set in.

Local TM Notes

Last week we were on fire. This week we basically took off from CR/Cromwell work. Maybe we'll get out there Friday again.

The RV maintenance guy finally got back to me looking to sync up. Maybe they're actually open to doing something. We'll see...

While not local to me, Matty took over the Deer Park JORBA lead recently. I see that a few of his posse are trimming, which I believe is a huge issue there right now. Be on the lookout for ways to help out at DP if this is a park that is close to you. I have faith that Matty will Make DP Great Again.

Posts of Note

Throw it back to Otto's Farm, back in the mix!

If you're into National Parks you can chime in here.

Or throw your 2 cents into the hit summer thread here.

That's probably enough. It's too hot to write much more than this.
