Wawayanda Limited Trail Opening

Note regarding trails at Wawayanda State Park. This is a note from the Superintendent regarding the trails on the Official Park Map:
The following trails will be considered OPEN as of today, 11/19/2012: (although park staff will be removing trail closure signs over the next two days). Jeff and Estelle- can you get the word out via your trail websites/forums?? Thank you!!

Hoeferlin
Banker
Wingdam
Double Pond
Iron Mt
Laurel Pond
Pump House
Sitting bear
Red Dot-over the wooden bridges, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THE ROCK BRIDGE AS THIS IS COMPLETELY BLOCKED
Cabin
Turkey Ridge
Black Eagle
Terrace Pond South
Yellow Dot (terrace pond area)

The following trails will remain CLOSED until they can be properly addressed for safety concerns:

Appalachian
Cedar Swamp
Lookout
Old Coal
Terrace Pond Red
Bearfort Waters/Clinton
Spring North
Terrace Pond North
ENTIRE AS HEWITT STATE FOREST TRAIL SYSTEM

The following Trails not on the map but usable:
Rattlesnake-near the top exit priuor to the pines area and continue up the gas line to the top
Tombstone-clear all the way
Fishermans-a small group of 3 trees down but passable around the root ball
Pines-open and clear top to bottom
Plymouth Lane- open but you should remain off due to the closure of Banker
Gasline Bypass- several trees down but passable to Hemlock
Hemlock- passable but you must traverse the end of the root ball near the the gas line. Also 2 or so single trees down along the remaining part of the trail.

For the most part you can get around the park. Please use caution when going off trail to bypass a downed tree. We are working on removal of these trees as time permits.

Wow, a big thanks to Black Bear for all the clearing at Waway. It looks like still a bunch more to go, but we all had a great Thanksgiving ride today, thanks to all the prompt work put in so far.

Any word on trails being open or closed? I was up there about a month ago and Cedar Swamp still had lots of trees down.

The majority of the trails are clear. The cedar swamp trail you mentioned is under the care of the TC and they have not yet gotten out to clear that trail.

Conditions will be questionable anyway due to the rain and melting snow at the park.
