I'd like to make this a good repository for training information.

It's an online training plan (16 weeks I think) which is intended to get you ready for a 100 mile off-road ride. While it may be shorter than your 2007 season, and a tad longer than your target event, it's still worth the read. That will give you an idea of a "standard" build up.

Anyway, you're going to need to understand workout levels for it to make any sense whatsoever. Take a look at this when you get a chance:
http://www.cyclingpeakssoftware.com/power411/levels.asp

Specifically the chart which talks about L1 through L7. You'll need to classify all your workouts in terms of TSS to use the spreadsheet, and in order to do that you'll need to understand those levels.

There is a lot of good condensed information here:

That's the guy who I got the Monique Ryan book from, which I still highly recommend for anyone who wants to take this bike riding business seriously.

OK since brad has decided to turn this thread into stuff about drinking.

Think your couple of beers a night don't affect your riding? I don't know if it does or does not, but here is some information.

I totally agree. I can definitely feel it when I go for a ride the morning after a night of drinking, even just a few glasses of wine with dinner. I feel sluggish, unbalanced and my stamina is horrible. Now that might sound like a normal day, but it is much worse after drinking. (getting us back on topic).

I yakked on my first ride with Jason - too much falling-down water the night before! Not a cool first biking impression me thinks...

For good, all-around training info on a ton of subjects, I like this site:

http://www.sport-fitness-advisor.com

They have a very good section on plyometrics, mostly focused on basketball or rugby players, but plyo applies to athletes in all disciplines and at all levels.

I personally use http://www.sparkpeople.com to track my calorie intake and exercises. It is free and has tons of general info and articles on wellness, physical fitness, and a very good healthy recipe section.

I am becoming bored with my old-fashioned workout routine. I am looking for an on-line training aid that would proscribe exercises and allow me to track progress/compliance? Does anyone know of a similar resource that is perhaps geared more toward male gym-rats? I may sign my wife up for this one, but I am not crazy about doing curls with bands or towels and it takes too much time for me to substitute exercises on the plan.

Is there anything on singlespeed training? Or anyone have anything?

I think just riding your ss on the prescribed workouts would suffice.
