Trailforks routes

Has anyone had luck with using TF to downlead and follow a route in the woods? I've tried the last few rides with no success. It seems to get confused if you ride a trail that is on the route more than one as it can't figure out which turn to make to get you off the trail. Always says to take the first turn, then it says off course for the rest of the ride. Kinda useless.

As in running Trailforks on you phone? I've successfully downloaded a route from TF to my Garmin and followed that.

Same - I did this twice this week in MA at parks I have never ridden and it worked fine.

Following a Strava route is generally better but TF also works.

I've used it on a Garmin 830. Works fine, as long as it's not a spaghetti network. Like Allaire or Nassau I'd think it gets confused. Stephens and Mooch were fine. Worked great out in Colorado and California too.

I've used it on a Garmin 530 and definitely find that it gets confusing if there are a lot of intersections, closely spaced trails, or your route uses the same section of trail more than once.

Half the reason I'm keeping Trailforks Pro forever is the integration with Garmin.

Save ride plan, auto uploads to the account and shows up on my 1030. Zero issues.

This is the issue I have too. Also on a 530.

Last week I tried this at Alpine. Started from the X and since several trails cross the main fireroad it would tell me to make the first right turn, followed by another right turn essentially going in circles. I had the loop on my phone, but I'm trying to avoid pulling out the phone constantly. Forget about Stephens, that was useless.

Are you creating it using the TF route tool thing? Did you hit "Snap to map"? Sometimes you end up with a total janked file because it has 10000 points.

No. I've just been grabbing a route off of TF and downloading it as a Course. Then do the course.

Do you need it to tell you when to turn? I've always just loaded GPX files onto my Garmin and then leave the map view on. I find I have better luck downloading routes from Strava, but I've taken them from Trailforks occasionally too.

is it worth getting trailfork pro subscription? I just want to download gpx files for karoo2
