Trail Rec. Request

Hey There,

I sold my MTB a few years ago when I moved to NYC. Bad idea for sure. I just picked up a Specialized Chisel and am looking to ride this weekend around North Jersey (I’ll be departing from Nyack). Anyone have a favorite trail in the area?

For reference the only trails I’ve ridden in the area are around Sprain Ridge in Westchester. That was on a rigid single speed 26er and was a blast.

Thanks for any advice and see y’all on the trails!

I used to ride Sprain a few times a month when I lived in Yonkers. Ringwood and Jungle Habitat are great trail systems - similar rocky-ness to Sprain and not too far if you're coming from Nyack. Sterling also not far though I'm not as familiar with it. If you're up for crossing the bridge, Graham Hills is a nice compact park, and Blue Mountain near Peekskill isn't too far if you're looking for a bigger trail system.

Go check out Alpine. About a 20 minute drive from Nyack.

Also Blauvelt NY has some good trails typically park at Tackamac North Park to ride here.
Or you can park on Marisco ct as one of the trails crosses that street.

Thanks for all the replies. I ended up riding the Sterling Forest loop today and had an absolute blast. It's technical enough to challenge but everything was ridable. There was a good amount of flow to boot! Did dent a rim but a small price to pay. To add to the drama I watched the fires out there go from small to something else.

I don't live in Nyack but am in the area every so often. Thanks for the https://www.palisadesmtb.org/ link. I was thinking today about how some trail work might be good.

I've got a list now, just gotta start checking them off. Alpine is quite convenient for me, perhaps my next visit.
