Trail head.

Parking Lot

Trailhead can be found in the Batsto Visitor Center Parking Lot. Look to the NW corner and you'll see the sign and map kiosk.
The parking lot entrence is on Batsto Road, off of rt 542.
You can find the latest trail map on JORBA.org.

One more thing.....

I want to try this epic 19 mile loop. Is there anything that will cause a snafu?
Can I get lost, etc., etc.

snafus

Its the middle of summer, so there's an overabundance of bugs. Some of us wear long pants w/ plenty o deet now. Some wear shorts and deal with it.

The NE corner of the 19er has a lot of fallen trees. we're slowly clearing them out, but in one section you'll still find yourself going way off the trail to get around some of the bigger trees.

Most find their way around the 19er fine and compliment the marking. Some get lost. Keep an eye out for the markers.

There's a note on the trailhead map kiosk that warns you are riding into a wilderness area. Believe it.

If you have concerns, a 10mile loop using the Huckleberry Trail is a nice intro to the trails. (And if it seems easy, you can always use that trail to create a 25 mile figure eight. 😉 )

Some of the trail is still that tight. (Which is a kinda a good thing.) Give it another two years and it will be worn in and brushed back. And most will be wearing shorts.

wow the bugs that bad?

I cover myself from head to toe with "Repel" 29% deet, I wear shorts and a jersey/helmet etc... So far after riding the Penn Branch Trail 3 times I've only had one tick!!! One thing I did notice, if you're the first one to hit the trails in the AM, be prepared for some spider webs across the trail. I swear some were as thick as clothesline! Post on here when you think you might be going and maybe you'll have some company. I have some travel to do for work coming up, but once that's done I plan on riding every Sunday morning (Early).
