In the list of things that can kill me while road riding this ranks up top. Cars that turn left in front of me or even turn right as I am there I have a shot at stopping or avoiding. But what is a cyclist supposed to do to protect against someone just driving a car up his or her ass?

The whole motor vehicle system is so ingrained and protected by our society that there will never be a strong enough penalty to make people actually be responsible drivers.
