it's kinda funny, as it is NBD.
you wake up in a different room than you went under, and there are no flowers or cigarettes.
someone starts blabbing about clipping this and that, and see you in 5 years.
talk about a long term clandestine rendezvous....
then ya gotta have someone drive you home.

The second day was butchering day - none of us had done pigs before so one of the guys running the camp gave us a quick tutorial then we were on our own. This is what we started with

If that is what you started with you missed all the fun part!

That pup is adorable!

We hiked a good 12 miles up and down hills to get our 3 pigs. I got the smallest - 350 lbs

Kill-mode Rick is rather unsettling, just the stare made poop my pants a little...looks like you stabbed it to death!

Only place there was any phone signal at all was the top of the ridge a few miles from our cabin

At the end of a long day (we left the hearts and livers, plus 4 tubs of fat, scraps and bones)

The geezer that owns the place also has horses and a bunch of dogs. He claims he sold all these vizsla pups for $1500 ea (there were 8)

Recon ride thru the sourlands this morning. I counted at least 6 abandoned cars. As others have reported, Hollow rd is a disaster - entire sections of pavement lifted off and washed away. Rocks 1+ ft in diameter were washed down like pebbles:

At the first Rock Brook Bridge, I ran into a reporter for the Montgomery News taking pics. She interviewed me for about 10 minutes and took a pic of me and my bike by the bridge - look for the article!

Further up, the only thing left of the historic 1800s bridge on zion is the original two stone arches:

Coming home, Manners rd is closed at the bridge, but you can hike a bike around the barriers. Three more abandoned cars on the other side

Holy. As of this morning, the truck is still on the side of Manners and two other cars in the fields. I just can't believe it.

Went west to (almost) Stockton today. Green Sergeant's covered bridge is this standing, incredibly enough, but it took some heavy artillery from huge trees:

More shocking was about a quarter mile down lower creek road. It no longer exists in this spot - and the Wickecheoke creek has changed its course to where the road used to be. I really liked riding this road!

Global warming is good - had spectacular weather for Canada fishing. Every day it was high of 70, low of 50, no rain and most surprisingly, no wind. Water level was down a good 10 ft from previous years which made walleye fishing more challenging - water temp a few degrees higher also didn't help. Fish were scattered and deeper. But casting for northern pike was fantastic. Caught a bunch - and it's great fun to see the follows and hits right at the boat. Crossing the border was quick and easy - for us. One guy that came up earlier got randomly nailed for a covid test which delayed him a few hours.

My friend Jim got a 34" northern

His brother George got a 37"

My biggest walleye - 23"

Note to self: do more than just pump up the tires on a bike you haven't ridden in a year before throwing it in the car and driving to a park. Tallboy is in the shop for a tuneup so took out the Horsethief. No rear brakes and the rear shock was barely functional. Fun times!
