Here we go - or here we wait.
Seller described the car accurately. it is a 20 footer.
Ran great, no signs of bubbling body work, no signs of being painted after the original
repaint 20 years ago. it was blue before - it was an engine out paint job.
the engine ran well - duel SU carbs w/K&N filters, performance exhaust (ymmv),
rebuilt brake master cylinder, and rear drums, rebuild master and slave clutch,
newer radiator, and hoses.

120k on the odometer - engine must have been rebuilt.

Brakes - stops like you'd expect - it sucked. pads are the size of a quarter ;)

Tight trans, and steering. no wobbles, tracked straight, accelerated smoothly.
new rubber, repainted steel wheels(single tone, should be shadowed) with fresh center caps and trim rings.
new gas tank, new starter, electric fuel pump, electronic ignition.

cold start with only the smallest puff of smoke.
a little rust in the rear of the wheel wells. didn't look "active" - just there.

20 footer - cause, ut oh, better call maaco paint job.
no body rust. some chips and rubs. there was a paint drip. paint isn't smooth at all,
but it didn't look like any bondo, just like it was painted - not in a clean room.
also a couple signs of getting bumped. rear bumper pushed in, dented. Front out of line.
well maybe one or two bubbles along one of the weird seams these cars have

Made his own interior door panels, kinda cool red with black leather. put in a thin carpet
not molded to car, but looks OKish. top could be better. it is a screwed up frame system anyway.
Seats had been re-webbed and padded. Could use a new driver seat cover. Headrests need to be reworked.

couple of metal fatigue cracks in the door and rocker panel. doors closed smoothly, and hinges were
tight. deck lid and hood closed without interference.

couple of oil drips - sign of a true british motor?
The stock steering wheel is way too big, and the pedals have way way too much travel.
It has heat!

haven't pulled the trigger - wife isn't thrilled, but it could do for a bit.
It certainly would be more fun than the metro.

There’s another MG for sale on Township Line Road within two minutes of my house in case you want a competitor. Saw while out on the moto today. Looks good from 20 feet back at 45mph. So it’s probably a wreck internally. If I ride by again tomorrow I’ll snap a pic.

Brakes should stop on a dime, no excuse. Porsche 914 will out brake it into corners with 4 wheel disc, but the MG B is no slouch to stopping.

If you or the Queen are not 100% on this one, please pass over it. Maybe the reasons you stated are why it has not sold in the past three weeks. There will eventually be the right one and there will be no doubt in both your minds.

Buy it for cheap, drop it off at the restoration guy, tell him what you want....It would be done before this thread ever reaches its natural lifespan anyway...

The Queen has spoken!

I was going to use RuPaul, but.......

She has decreed the following
- that this car will not have a manual top
- that this car will have adequate heat, and would consider a/c a bonus
- that this car should still be unique
- that the budget has increased
- that the car shall not be too masculine (jag, porsche, bmw, muscle, pony, land yacht)

This has eliminated 90% of what we've been talking about.
You all have attempted to garner approval from the Queen with your suggestions,
this will all be considered against your debt (my debt?)

how many 1958 corvettes exist with the power top option?

She finds this appealing. How far from a little MG can ya get? Personally, i don't want the extra 2 seats!

i should have kept bidding on that SL600.

Wow.
Power top alone rules out a lot of cars.
Can it be modern or does it have to be a classic? Just as long as it is uncommon?
That red SL600 would have been nice and there is a board mechanic to go with it!

I think she wants the wow, that is unique car.
The ability to take it to a dinner party on a fall saturday night, or the sunday coffee cruise.
I'd like to run it up to 150+ but.....not a requirement.
she is resisting the miata/mx-5 for some reason. too common?
hemi t-bucket is out too - i checked. so is the '32 roadster kit. :(

I think the mx5 is a manual top. She should still get it. I know a guy. He’s had one for awhile but it’s not old. And it’s for sale. Might become the best car youz own.

The Miata RF version is a power targa top.

Does the Queen object to targa, T top, and others?
I don't know how to describe the top on a Stag. T top with open back?
