What do the experts say, hen of the wood? And what are the ones with the big caps? I only know about the thermally dimorphic and opportunistic kind that can kill you.

Today's ride - with all the leaves, recognizing mushrooms along a road while riding is getting more difficult. In any event, I defer to soundz' expertise (foot added for scale):

Today - looks like this is going to end soon, tho when I get to FL there will be plenty. I think this is the first time I saw puffballs on a living tree

Today's chilly ride - there were lots of fly agaric right behind these so thought they were probably the same but no, these have pores. I snapped one in half to see if it turned blue - no change. Likely edible but no idea which variety.

PS obviously the little red ones are different

Looks like a brown bolete about the only mushroom I can ID
