Started on the road bike and the shifter broke allowing only the chain to go down the cassette, it's been bad luck gearwise this past week. New bike is on order, but it'll probably arrive late 2022

Jumped on the gravel bike and explored some of the territory I never really ride in the back yard. Pandemic has the Summit folk cleaning up the old train track area, so that was pretty cool to check out. It was pretty fun on the gravel bike exploring those trails, but my back and neck are telling me that it was a dumb idea now.

Dragged myself out of bed today for a loop that is now getting pretty boring. It's pretty flat though, so...

so basically i declared myself out of the 20+ since I needed all the days remaining after being sick in order to make it to 20, but that will be July 31 and we are on vacation that day.

whats ironic is I have been able to make time and been physically able to ride every day since then somehow, well except tomorrow cause life. This meant I logged 170+ miles last week and I am riding as much as I can while work and pre-vacation demands allow.

Just figured to add it here if @clarkenstein is still tracking it somehow to see where I end up, but no worries if it makes more work for you. Still checking this blog for the stories.

You have 17 rides in. You only have to ride 3 of the 4 remaining days. That's doable. U CAN DO IT!

We finally got up there last month. Place is fabulous. Did a 21-22 mile day and it’s just an excellent trail network. I mean on that first climb up they basically built a drainage aqueduct the whole way up.

And all funded by a wealthy guy that wants to encourage outdoor recreation. The trails in Wolfeboro near where we stay also have a wealthy benefactor now and they have pretty big plans.

Day 27 - A ride with some TM

I had planned to ride Neshaminy, but Tom suggested Pennypack. I mentioned I had bought a new machete after experiencing a lot of overgrowth the last time I rode there, as well as a post about it a few days ago on a FB group. So Tom brought his machete as well and we went looking for brush to trim. We found a lot. We started the ride at about 5:30 and got back to the cars at about 7:45. Also donated blood to the area mosquito population...

Cue up, "that's not a knife..." comments:

I actually wanted the one that looked less sabre-like (and was lighter), but this one had a sheath and the other one didn't. And let's face it - a sheath is kinda important when hauling one of these in your pack.

It's apparent pictures of trail work are hard. Even before and after shots don't really look like you did anything...

We tried to park our bikes in the middle and then go out and work our ways back towards each other. Lest someone creep up onto one of the bikes with no one around. However, we didn't see anyone on the trails when we were working.

This one kinda looks like we did something:

This particular section of trail was really overgrown. It seemed like we were hacking away forever and not getting anywhere.

Sometimes you come across downed trees that are not machete material. This was one of them:

I noticed Strava will tag the spot on your ride map where you took pictures. Or at least it tries to... Some of the pictures are way off the actual locations:

Oh yeah... swinging a machete around for over an hour is tiring. My arms are sore.

Tomorrow: probably a couple of Nesh laps.

21/31 I thought it was 20+ and not 20, either way I’m good currently at 16-days in a row. Plan to finish up strong through the end of the month. After 7pm ride yesterday after work, waited until after dinner and did another after 7pm ride. Didn’t want to cramp, so didn’t push too hard. Headed over to the canal again to avoid some of the evening traffic.

Pretty much have the hour out the garage door loop set in any direction.
