The Great October MTBNJ Get-Out-There Competition

Solo recovery ride 1 point. Expected to feel more sore from yesterday but legs feel great.

This nice weather is really spoiling us.

Paging @Patrick revising my submission for 2.5 points instead.

Son #3 randomly says - hey dad I am walking up to the schoolyard to hang with my friends does the dog need to go for a walk. We can walk together and then you can keep going after the school.

My first thought of course was yes this is now a 2.5 point day. Grabbed the leash and off we went.

Well I'm out. I knew this week was going to be tough to get 5 activities as I am traveling Thursday through Sunday. I came down with some sort of bug the last 2 days so that basically eliminates my chances of completing the week. I will still carry on riding, running, walking, etc. :p

Couple of cool events today -
Met up with the local Open Space guy. We've been working with Somerset county to establish trails through county property.
they are very accommodating - we will eventually hook with duke farms and/or duke island park - and then over to the D&R.
In the westerly direction, we'll go out to Ringoes along the old railbed. We put in markers for the brush cutter to come through.

2 points -

Found some more fungi for @soundz to ID. In shade, growing on dead wood.

I then headed up to Pingry School as the course marshal for the non-public middle school cross country meet.
The course disappears into the woods, and having stationary marshals doesn't work well, so i swept it on my fat bike.
Very popular with the kids. That is two weeks in a row i've been paid to ride my bike. Winning!

Lifted heavy things today. Climbed ladders, stood in funny positions, and had to pick stuff off the floor multiple times.
so i was gassed after this long 8 hour day - i even grabbed mcdonalds on the way home. they gave me the wrong sammich too.

Got home and was thinking about the 20 minute quickie. Jumped on the zwifter, and started the Road to the Sky route.
I've started the climbing challenge, and that is a climb. 20 minutes rolled by, and i figured i'd do the 30, cause why not.
at that point i'm into Alpe climb, and i keep cranking. An hour-twenty later, I'm finishing the climb. had to take a health break
mid way up, but shaved 3 minutes off moving time since the last attempt a couple weeks ago. progress.

so just short of two hours on the zwifter. 1 point.
