Found a photo.
We've been cooking for two months with just the painted drywall with no splatters so far.Just my $.02. Depending on how often the stove top is used and how messy the cook(s) are, a smooth S/S back splash will need to be cleaned often.
Maybe S/S tiles?
i like the stainless, but a little too commercial for my taste. I matched my countertop as my backsplash for the business side of the kitchen.
easy to clean, hides everything between cleanings! A little boring tho,
