T-Type chain ring with non T-Type chain?

Are T-Type chain rings made only for the flat top T-Type chain or will a regular SRAM Eagle chain work just as well? I'm asking because there's a chain ring I'm thinking of getting but it only says T-Type and I have the older AXS system.

You cant use the t type. You need an Eagle chain
 

Can I mix SRAM Eagle AXS Transmission components with Eagle Drivetrain components?​


No. Generally speaking, Eagle Transmission components are not backward compatible with Eagle Drivetrain components.

The exceptions to this are:

  1. Eagle Transmission T-Type chainrings are compatible with Eagle chains, so they can be used on Eagle Drivetrains when mounted to an Eagle Transmission crankset. However, Non-T-Type Eagle Drivetrain chainrings are incompatible with Eagle Transmission T-Type chains.
  2. All AXS controllers will work with all AXS derailleurs. So, you can use the new Eagle Transmission Pod Controllers with Eagle AXS Drivetrain, or the Eagle Drivetrain controller with Eagle Transmission. Or, add some Wireless Blips to customize your cockpit!
 
It is reported that KMC chain will work on T type.

5 dev makes a T type chain that works with AXS and Shimano 12 speed chains. I have been using one for 800 miles now without issue.

This is exactly what I wanted to hear... I think... because this is the chain ring I'm looking to get. When you say 5 dev makes a T type chain that works with AXS, did you mean a chain ring, not just the chain? Thanks.

Its works with all chains and they have the new 8 bolt and the old direct mount pattern.
