StravAssholes

Hilarious! I was almost clipped at Lew Mo last weekend by some of these jackasses bombing downhill while I was grinding uphill.

Yeah, I can imagine that on the Yellow trail (I think) coming down towards the lake.

It is almost like people think that before Strava, no one rode fast and we were all out for a leisurely stroll in the park. "f they are riding fast through the park, they must be on Strava" While some people are asshats on Strava, just as often I have run into countless people riding at the speed of smell or being stopped in the middle of a trail with a group of riders. While I understand the beginner aspect, there is an opposite form to the strava asshat that is just as bad.

We should all play it safe, but there are many users with many agenda's in the parks, not so sure I think we should all dumb it down and run at a snails pace (I heart it when people who get pissed about fast riding get pissed about people knocking technical features out, it's okay to ride the knar, but don't go fast).

man, i hate that song. its awful.

i do like the ride finish bit. pretty true i would say.

Strava or not... I like riding fast in the woods... Either with or without a motor.. Always have, always will. Is it dangerous? Yep, is it Fun? Yep... Do I care if I buzz you and you get mad? Nope
Going fast in the woods is fun, no doubt. But if I'm going uphill and you buzz me and don't yield (and don't care), that's really bad form. Trail courtesy = Trail access.

OK trying to be quiet here because I love to ride fast too, BUT the other day Pat and I are at Allaire on the fat bikes. We are climbing Switchback and are not together with intentions of regrouping at the top. I see a rider coming down as I am going up. We have enough room to avoid each other so no Prob, I tell him I have 1 rider behind me, he acknowledges and we go on our merry way. Apparently when he gets to Pat he's moving at a good clip with his head down( her description)doesn't see her so she heads for the side of the trail to avoid beng hit.(Pat is neither the most experienced or aggresive rider out there)Rider going down looks up at the last minute, sees her, crashes into her, picks up his bike and is off down the hill again without a word.(again her side of the story, I wasn't there). So to me Thats an ASSHOLE, stravaing or not. We need to bear in mind that all activities have them but in Mountain Biking I think the good guys still out number the bad! When we go on the weekends and ride in the middle of the day I realise that families, inexperienced riders and other users are sharing the trails and its not the time to try and break any speed records. To me common sense and courtesy go a long way.

That is an asshat. Sorry Pat had to experience that.......

The sport is definitely growing, there are a lot more people out there. Then again, not all of the new ones are bad, and not all of the old ones are good.
