Star Wars day

You are a nerd. How did you miss this?

Im thinking Herbie and the love bug might be my earliest movie. Dad took me to Poseidon adventure. First big boy movie. Mom took me to jaws.

Jaws in the theater too. I can still remember pulling my legs up off the floor every time the dum dum...dum dum dum dum... started to play... 🙂

Can't exactly remember #1, but one of my first moves was Home Alone at Blue Star in Watchung.

I've never watched a star wars movie. I've seen parts, but very few.

First move I saw alone in the theater was Willy Wanka with Gene Wilder. It was in a theater in Kingston NY (near Woodstock) in 1972 or 73. It was actually a double feature, the other movie was HR PuffnStuff. At that theater year old movies were all that was available. But hey, it was new to me...right? 🙂

I just remembered my first movie was Willy Wanka at a drive in

Ha, I remember seeing Willy Wanka at a drive in when I was a kid down the shore on vacation. This is the first movie I remember seeing. Gigglesworth scarred me and so did the umpaloompas...and the girl blowing up to a blue berry.

May the 4th be with you...

Empire Strikes Back is by far my favorite of all them all. Ironically it’s my oldest memory of seeing Star Wars in a theatre. The Menlo Park theatre which is where Macaroni Grill sits today.
I remember seeing Superman (‘78) there on my 9th birthday
Summer of ‘77 I saw Star Wars about 8 or 9 times in the theater. One of my friend’s mom worked with the YMCA so we got in discounted. Every time I see a new Star Wars movie in the theatre I’m taken right back to 1977 as soon as the theme music & opening crawl starts.

We saw Return of the Jedi opening night, it was jam packed and my buddy Rick and I camped on the back row aisle. The usher considered this a fire hazard and made us move to the first row. I distinctly recall having to scan back and forth to see the whole deal. Was fun, and we went back later to rewatch in better digs. Man, the crowd went absolutely nuts when Vader turned on the emperor. Shoot that was fun.

Maybe it's just nostalgia but I look at the newer movies as pooping on my childhood.

Only thing better than Silver Streak was The Big Bus. And there's my derailer for the day.
