I went to this lbs to bleed my hydraulic brakes and they charge me $39.98 for labor on both front and rear brakes. And $9.98 for installing fluid on the front and rear brakes. A total of $49.96 just like the price of the avid bleeding kit. Not only that I bought a shifter and they charge me $19.99 labor/installation for the rear and $9.99 for front adjustment. My question is, am I paying a fair price here or Im the one who's pocket got bled for the services. I look it up in YouTube how to bleed the brakes and it's not that complicated. I need some advice from anybody. Thanks!

Those prices look about right to me. Buy a bleed kit & learn to do it yourself for next time & there will be a next time. Remember these guys have a business to run. Overhead, salaries, tools, etc. Don't forget this is NJ were everything is expensive & they need to make a living too. Now go Enjoy a ride.

Thanks man! I read some of the thread here they didn't pay that much for the brake bleed. I will learn how to do it next time, it's funny because I know how to change pads and bleed a car brakes. Thanks and have a great weekend!

if youc an bleed the brakes on a car you can bleed the brakes ona bike, same idea behind, just on a smaller scale, hell its almost the same procedure.

Warning to everyone. Just don't go there for services specially about hydraulic brakes. They claim I have a bad brakes that they can't fix. Apparently it's a brand new brake in front and a mint condition rear brake and both of them are working that just need to be bled. I will never go back there for anything. Who ever read this consider yourself warned.

Really? I ride with Alex and he's one of the most honest guys I know.

Not sure what went down but I am honestly not understanding what you mean? If the front is brand new where did you buy it? And if the rear is mint - how old is it? Are the rotors true? So they work and need to be bled but Shore is saying they are bad? They said this after you were charged? What Avid disc brakes are they - I remember reading that some of the Avids hydros are a little sketch.

And I actually bleed my own brakes and clutch on my truck and send the bike to the shop. At $100/hr for auto mechanics I'd much rather pay the $40/hr for bike work (in general they actually care more/do better work).

Brand new avid ultimate brake never been installed and need to be bled. The rear brake is working because I used it and. When I came back to get my bike they said I need to change all the brakes because they are shot. I ask him why, he said he can't perform the bleeding process because the lever is not retracting back to its original position and I ask "what do you suggest"? He said to buy a new brake. I don't want to spend more money, so I asked, "is there any option"? He said there's a kit for the levers, $20 if buy it. I asked "does it fix the problem" he said "I doubt it". So I decided to bled it myself I bought the avid kit from them and watch a couple of vids on YouTube and I fixed the rear and the brand new one in front that won't retract back to the original position when you squeeze the brake. When I bring the brakes there that is not the condition of it because it's brand new. To sum it up, they broke it and blame me for it. I called them and he didn't speak to me about that and he let the lady who work there and saying I didn't let them fix my brakes because I don't want to spend any dime, which is true that's why I took my bike and do it myself. To make the story short, they don't want to admit it. And the lady told me they didn't do any bleeding but when I checked it it still covered with brake fluid and they cut the length of the front brake cables and tell me they didn't do anything to my brakes. I'm not stupid and I know the condition of my brakes before I bring it to them. I bought everything there from my bike to accessories and upgrade. I'm upset about it and I just dismayed looking at my bike.

After a series of videos and reading instructions on how to overhaul the lever pistons, I managed to fix the brakes and bled it. Run the hose with air from a pump and a basketball air pin. Now I got the brakes working.
