Rocshox has excellent manuals on the fork/shocks rebuilds and they list special tools you will need. I remember seals kit was ~$25 on amazon. Give them a call with your fork serial in hand to get the exact PN.

Can someone chime in what are the pros/cons of sending in to a 3rd party suspension service company like gearworks vs just sending to fox factory service center if you don't care about the turn around time.

Manufacturer service centers (as in, actually Fox, or Rockshox, not independent shops) tend to be more generous with warrantying parts in the equipment that "shouldn't" fail. They're also going to have everything in the equipment if they say they can work on it, so no extra time ordering weird parts, etc.

You are paying for it, though, since they tend to be higher priced than independent shops.
