Seized spoke nipples

I sold my Roval CLX32s to a friend of a friend a couple weeks ago. He wants his money back because his shop tells him that "all the nipples are seized and they can't be trued". Assuming they haven't screwed everything up, he can have his money back but is this really a problem for a shop? Or just a PITA they don't want to deal with? I had a crappy set of ICONs that I couldn't true (because 'seized') but Richie at the Peddler had no complaints when he swapped in a PT hub for me and he handed me back all the undamaged spokes/nipples.

I never touched the things. They were straight as far as I was concerned.

This could very much be the case assuming they are aluminum nipples. However, you didn’t tell the dude to get them trued, so…

True (heh) but I'm not going to create ill-will over it as long as I get them back in the same condition I handed them over.

KROIL Original Penetrating Oil

give this a try, it is an amazing product. Spray and wait and spray again, it works miracles.
I second this.

Yep. If you put it in a bottle, then close it tightly/place it on a shelf, the bottle will have a light sheen of oil on it after a few days.

Let the wheel sit for 10-15 minutes, grab the spokes with spoke pliers (Twist Resist), and have at it.

Works with pretty much everything except aluminum Mavic spokes.

Kroil. Almost guaranteed. Just let it soak grab the wheel and flex the spokes. You good.
