We used to put go kart tires in the oven with no air to shrink them, to get the diameter where you wanted for stagger. Likewise, overfill and set out in the sun to stretch'em bigger. But always mounted. Unmounted ? I'm thinking all you are doing is making a large, smelly? Shrinky Dink ! Probably made your situation worse.

Jim nailed it, I suck. In my defense, however, it took the bike shop guy over 10 minutes to do it.

Moral of the story, stock up on the original tires that came with this bike. Next flat, I'm f-ed, tho it is the front tire and I rarely get flats there.
