Screeching disc brake

Road bike (ultegra something or other) front disc brake started making a loud screech upon stopping. Rear is fine. Cleaned rotors with alcohol, sanded the front brake pads, no difference. Time for new pads? 3200 miles

Clean the pads with alcohol, and then pop them in the oven when wifey pooh is out. 350* for 20 min. Stopped mine from howling. Not sure if this works with resin pads.

Wait rotors or pads? I used 1000 on the pads.
1000 is not aggressive enough.

he said rotors because the contaminated pads could have glazed the rotors, sanding them takes them back to a virgin surface. with cleaned or new pads you can bed them in and they should be good as new. i found when trying to burn oil out of a pad you need to get them HOT with a torch, a cigarette lighter wont do. a butane lighter will work eventually but i use a propane torch like youd use to solder pipes, i get them to the point where you can literally smell the pads burning. i dont think there is a point where they can get too hot they always come back to quiet.
