Saskadena 6
Saskadena 6, formerly known as Suicide 6, is a small trail system on the side of a very small ski hill just to the north of Woodstock, VT. I've been there just once, in the summer of 2024, as our second ride of the day. As you might guess, the general tone of this system is that you climb the hill, then go back down it.
This trail system is probably not enough to spend a day on, but it can be combined with Mount Peg or Aqueduct as a second ride in a given day. Alternately, if you're in the area for a few days and just looking for a shorter ride, that may work fine. Or if you're inclined to just repeat the trails a few times, you could spend all day there I suppose. But the system is fairly limited in terms of overall number of trails.
Saskadena 6, in combination with Mount Peg, has been part of the ESC enduro race. The first and last stages are here, with the middle 3 over at Peg. The course needs to be reconfigured between the stages, which is why the race is setup like this.
Getting There
The town of Woodstock is just about 5 hours from central NJ. The map shown here goes up the CT/VT gut. More often than not, we're coming in from Rutland so we go up 87.
General Ride/Trail Notes
As mentioned, this system is an up-down, then up-down, and you keep doing that until you've had enough. We rode just 3 trails when we were here
- First Drop
- Avery's Interstate
- Ask Your Father into Don't Tell Mom
Avery's Interstate is a blue run that's well-groomed from top to bottom. I would consider this an all-access, all-level, all-fun, awesome trail. The features are so well done, it's easy to just let it fly and enjoy the trail. If you have enough time to ride only 1 trail, I would suggest this. It's truly fabulous, and should be considered in any "best of Vermont" list IMO.
Ask Your Father to Don't Tell Mom is a single run cut up into 2 parts. These are both fun trails but as you might guess, are a bit more raw. I enjoyed this combo but it would have been a benefit to know the trail better. This one might be better with some sessioning.
A few additional small trails lie between these 2 runs which you can use to make a few different paths down the hill. But the above 2 trails seem to be the primary pair that define this park.
In the summer of 2024 they were doing work at the top of the mountain, so some of the trails up there were not exactly as-described from the TrailForks map.

Trip Planner
Saskadena 6 is 1 of 3 trail systems in Woodstock, the other 2 being Aqueduct as well as Mount Peg. You could make a 3-day weekend out of those 3 trails if you wanted to stay in Woodstock.
Killington Bike Park and the Sherburne Trails are just about 30 minutes to the west. Ascutney is roughly 20 minutes south. Tunnel Ridge and the Rochester Trails are about 45 minutes away. The Green Mountain Trails are probably 40 minutes away.
You could easily spend a week up here in this area riding just those systems and never have to drive more than 45 minutes any given day, more often than not less than that.
Food & Drink
The town of Woodstock is teeming with things to do, quite literally. It may be the most "vibrant" downtown I have seen in the state. Check Zillow for house prices and you'll see what I mean. Clearly some of the NY/NJ money has made it here. That said, we have gone to these spots before:
- Abracadabra Coffee Company - small roaster that used to be in town but has since moved to a larger location north of town
- Woodstock Farmer's Market - great way to spend a lot of money on a little food, but they do have excellent fresh bread and local cheeses
- Mountain Creamery - We've been to the old location in town, this is a new location
- Worthy Kitchen - related to Worthy Burger, another place in VT somewhere. Mitch says the chicken is amazing
- Angkor Wat - we have never been here but it was recommended to us
