Safety lights

Red Mosquito

Formerly RLB the Scrapple Boy
I'm looking for something to give a bit of side visibility. My idea was to mount either one of these to the ends of my drop bars and aim downward.

I like the cat eye better due to the wider angle (seems like 360?) but supposedly they're not so good with water. I don't ride much in the rain, but it would be nice to have the option. Does anyone have similar suggestions?

white side lights would be confusing to someone driving (at least me, which is easy) - amber and/or red is appropriate - reflective tape may be enough to accomplish your goal.

+1 on the light and motion. I've got the 180 vis micro (?),
and it's mad bright, with yellow side illumination.

I would recommend some reflective tape or some type of reflective material. If you go with a light keep it something subtle.

IMO, It gets confusing and some times sketchy when people have lights mounted in different directions beyond white out front and red in the back. I see plenty of this on my commute. Good reflective material shows up awesome. You light up like a christmas tree when a light shines on you and people can tell exactly what they are looking it.

my solution:
I have something similar, though w/o the reflective material. Looking to go one step further, plus my gore jacket is all black (dumb choice) so sometimes I'm much more stealth.

Check out Light and Motion 360 vis. I have them and have been happy so far.

Thanks, looking for something smaller/less expensive.

I see both of your points and will take them into consideration. I'm not looking for something to project to the side, more of just a light that says "I'm here"

Thanks for the ideas.

I use the Yellow Neon wrap around the frame wire. Its pretty good so far and highly visible. It can be steady, slow flash, then fast flash. Looks pretty cool at night, however, during the day you can see the wrapped bike and looks like a xmas tree. haha.

mj 818 is insanely bright to the point I think most motorists might get road rage on me. It will blind you if you look at it for more than a "blip" or two
