Round valley trail update

had a great circuit of the valley today. trail conditions were awesome. spoke to the ranger regarding access to lakeside trail between boat launch and camping parking lots. his comment was, "the trail is not technically closed to bikes as it is no longer posted as so". However, he did say it is within his discretion to take action if warranted. He said he is ok with lone riders on this trail, but groups will be watched more closely. His concern is the large number of hikers and dogs on this trail. On Memorial day weekend, the access gate at the boat ramp side will be locked for the season. His other more significant comment was regarding riders who are showing up before 8am., the official opening time for the park. He said he has issued several warnings to early birds, he knows tickets are expensive, but will start writing them if the problem persists.

Park in the Cushetunk lot, should be ok.

I was one of the early-birds who got a warning. The ranger who stopped me was very nice about it, but he did make it clear that the posted park hours will be enforced.

That said, this was the first time I visited the park, and while the trails weren't overtly technical, the hills were killer in both directions. I'll definitely go back, but not before 8am!
