Pleasure running into you today, Johnny! I was thrown off meeting an MTBNJer not wearing any spandex! (Wait, should I not have told them? Eh, cat's out of the bag now)
Regarding the 24" bikes, I mentioned it today. Perhaps they're waiting for the completion of Lower Greenhorn to really push the kids stuff. It's a huge project, but we got a head start last season and hope to have it done by early July. It will make the mountain a thousand times easier for beginners, as Domboo (the easiest trail down after greenhorn ends) can be a bit scary for many first timers. Lack of moisture lately has also made the turns a lot sandier than normal. If you've got access to XC bikes, the h2h stage between/around the ponds at the top of the mountain is close to the lifts and a good alternative for folks not ready to face the steeper, looser trails. Great lunch picnic spot too!
