roadbike shifter cable routing question

a.s.

Mr. Chainring
The shifters on my road bike have the brake cables that come out the sides. I want to swap for new shifters where all the cables are hidden under the bar tape. Is this just as simple as getting new shifters and bar tape? I don't need new handlebars right?

Thanks

yep but newer handlebars will porbably have grroves in them for cable routing. You'll still feel the cable but just not as much.

You also want to have a compatible system, ie SRAM for Sram, Shim for Shim and Campy for Campy.

Yes, I definitely know this. Thank you.

I was 99% certain I knew the answer to my initial question. It's been so long since I've worked on a road bike I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. I'm trying to make my 9 year old road bike look only 4 years old. :D

even without grooves, if you tape down the housing where your knuckle line up, it's still pretty comfy with a thick wrap
