I went to swap out the cassette on my road bike and hit a snag. My wheel has Shimano hubs (WH-R600) and the old cassette is a Shimano CS-5600. The new cassette that I picked up is a SRAM PG-1070. The problem I ran into is that the freehub has a lip about 1/4 inch from the outer edge where the splines become deeper. I attached a pic so you can see what I mean. The new SRAM cassette won't slip down over the lip. I looked at the Shimano cassette and sure enough, the larger cogs have deeper cuts to accommodate the deeper splines on the freehub.
Is this a common Shimano/SRAM incompatibility or do I have some oddball freehub?
