After a 10-year layoff from fatbikes due to a golf addiction, I got back in the saddle in the winter of 2009 and started in earnest again this past spring. I'm a long time roadie/ex-racer that pedals for fun (sub-50 mile fast training rides). I started riding the Marty's Morristown shop ride and fell into a group of guys near my house.
They got me back into the woods - they on mtb fatbikes and me on my cross fatbike. I forgot how much fun the woods can be, as my last mtb was a Bridgestone MB-3 steel rigid with a Softride suspension stem (I'm dating myself for sure).
So I just added a Trek Fuel EX 8 to my fatbike collection (road, cross, fixed/ss, touring and now mtb) and looking forward to some Fatbike lane riding. The snow and frigid cold have kept me off the fatbike, but I just put some Nokian studded tires and will try to get out this weekend.
Pardon me if I ask some real newbie questions later on, as I don't know many of the trails here (used to ride in Long Island) and all the technology (disc brakes, suspension) is very new (I do my own wrenching mostly). Hope to see some of you on the Fatbike lane or road.
Cheers..John 😀
