Recommend ear buds

Looking at the Sony 1000 and 700 series. Seems they get good reviews along with airpod pro and Bose. Anyone have recommendations for less than $200 options? Fyi, will paired with an iPhone

My last two pair have been Jaybirds, and they have been great. The battery did die on the first pair, but they gave me a new pair even though they were out of warranty. Of course I just looked at the current models and the reviews seem to have gone downhill. Hopefully mine last a while longer.

I have the Bose sport earbuds. Retain well and sound really good. Sometimes hard to get them to connect tho.

My kids and I all have the Bose earbuds and overear headphones, they've been worth the money. I keep buying refurbished ones for riding off eBay because they go to shit after a while.

I'm a tethered person. Unnecessary batteries bother me. Panasonic Ergo-fits are 99% as good as the super expensive stuff, cost ~$20. Excellent clarity through the Hz range--very good for listening to non-balanced-to-hell music. Need an aux jack, though.

OnePlus made a pair of USB-C earbuds that are fairly well reviewed. No longer available, afaik.

My monitors are studio quality Sonys. Haven't bought any in something like 10 years, since the only thing I use them for is the organ when I don't want to use the speakers.

I use Shokz OpenRun whenever outdoor is involved, other ways just the basic Apple tethered earbuds. Bought the OpenRun because the bone transmission and the claim of being able to hear what happens around when wearing them…at the volume I listen to everything that is a stretch, but they do work well.

I see that brand in many budget top lists. Worth considering
Yeah, I think I bit on those based on a Wirecutter review.
Also no issue with connectivity, as soon as they hit my ear- bloop “Connected”

I'll throw in another vote for Shokz. Sound quality isn't great but you get used to it, and if someone yells they're coming up behind me I can hear them

I'm on the shokz bandwagon as well. The open ears are great to hear everything around you, and if you don't like that you can throw some ear plugs in and it makes them sound a bit better. I even use them when I do my lawn work with ear plugs; I'm able to hear audiobooks over the 25hp zero turn mower. The only time I have an issue with them is on the bike at higher speeds with no ear plugs listening to audiobooks. The wind noise is too much to hear the narrator. Music is fine in that situation though.

Edit to add: I also have some Google Pixel buds that sound pretty good, but I really don't like that I can't hear my surroundings while wearing them.

I have the Pixel Buds Pro and they have a "transparency" mode which allows.you to hear what's going on around you. They also have a setting that will pause your listening when you start a conversation. Though that might only be available with pixel phones (not 100% sure). Sound quality is great and they work perfectly with my Pixel.

I assumed the air pods have a similar transparency mode but maybe I'm mistaken? Either way, I'd imagine the best integration experience with an iPhone would come from using the air pods.

Yep. I have AirPod pros and they’re awesome. Especially with an iPhone. Pairing or connecting is not even something I think about, it just works. They have transparency mode so you can hear your surroundings. I wear 1 AirPod in my right ear when I ride and I never feel like I can’t hear everything going on around me.

Not sure if mine have a transparency mode. They're a cheaper model that came with one of the pixel phones a couple years ago.

I've had the gen 1 Airpods Pro for about a year and a half and love them. Super comfortable (and Apple headphones have been historically uncomfortable for me), great sound quality, and very good battery life. Only thing I wish they had was remote volume adjust, but I think the newer gen has that feature built in.
