Rear Suspension Bushing Lube?

The frame on my friend's Trek Fuel cracked (complete weld failure at the top tube to seat tube at 6-mile no less!). Trek sent him a replacement frame that I'm building up for him (it pays to buy new sometimes!).

My question is this: Do the rear suspension bushings get any lube? These look to be Teflon or some other polymer coating over brass? I have read differing things, like you don't want lube in these as it attracts dirt and will cause premature wear, but I also see where people say to put a few drops of lube on these pivot points when lubing the bike. Anyone know the right answer?

Thanks,

Tim

That's right, I called trek about this when I used to have a Fuel. If you need to clean them, just use soap and water but dont use lube. Its made of teflon and will wear out fast.
There is also torque specs for the linkage, make sure you torque em right.

Oreo,

That's what I was thinking as they looked dry when I took them apart.

Thanks for the info.
